Lev Tolstoy. The road of life

Exhibition April 30 − October 12, 2021
The State Russian Museum in the halls of the branch in Malaga, Spain is holding an exhibition "Lev Tolstoy. The road of life".

The exposition consisted of about 40 exhibits from the collection of the State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg.
Through portraits made during his lifetime by contemporary masters of the writer, paintings, graphics and sculpture, one can intuitively sense the relationship that the writer maintained with a large number of artists, and the genuine dialogue of creators that took place between them.

Illustrations for Tolstoy's novels "War and Peace" and "Hadji Murat" are represented by drawings by Dementy Shmarinov (1907–1999) and watercolors by Eugene Lansere (1875–1946). The exhibition ends with paintings and lithographs by the English traveler John-Thomas James (1786-1828) and drawings by Lanceray of the Grand Duke Grigory Gagarin (1810-1896).
