Exhibition opened in Palazzo Strozzi "American Art 1961-2001".
Visitors will see an outstanding selection of over 80 works by 55 American artists, including Andy Warhol, Mark Rothko, Louise Nevelson, Roy Lichtenstein, Claes Oldenburg, Bruce Nauman, Barbara Kruger, Robert Mapplethorpe, Cindy Sherman, Matthew Barney, Kara Walker and many more. Paintings, photographs, videos, sculptures and art installations offer an unprecedented reinterpretation of forty years of history.
For the first time in Italy, the exhibition presents the many creative movements and styles that marked the explosive development of American art from the outbreak of the Vietnam War to the tragic events of 9/11.
