Wallace Collection, London hosts exhibition
Rubens: Reuniting Great Landscapes.
For the first time in more than two hundred years, two great landscape masterpieces by Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640), Rainbow Landscape (Wallace Collection) and Early Morning View of Hat Steen (National Gallery) have been reunited in an ongoing exhibition.
Although the works were kept together in Rubens' own collection, the paintings were brought to London in 1803 and separated forever: The Rainbow Landscape eventually ended up in Wallace's collection, and The Early Morning View of Hat Steen into the National Gallery's collection. Visitors to the exhibition will have a unique opportunity to see great paintings together, immerse themselves in the richness of details, and appreciate the scale of the paintings.
