Painting by Ivan Aivazovsky in Sevastopol

Exhibition July 7 − October 31, 2021
In the cultural-exhibition center of the Museum of the heroic defense and liberation of Sevastopol opened the exposition, where you can see works of Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky. Works of the great Russian artist are represented by the Feodosia Art Gallery, which bears his name.

In addition to paintings from the gallery's collection, the atmosphere of the epoch of the great artist helps to recreate the unique archival documents, presented at the exhibition by the Museum of the heroic defense and liberation of Sevastopol. Among them are maps, charts, models of sailing ships.

Most of Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky's picturesque works are a chronicle of the glorious victories of the Russian fleet, from the time of its foundation to the events of which the artist himself was a contemporary. In his studio there were always drawings of many legendary ships and vessels, thanks to which Aivazovsky could faithfully recreate them on canvas. Among them is the sailing ship "Twelve Apostles". At the exhibition there are two paintings with its image.
