? Honored Artist of Russia - Gennady Pavlovich Sorogin (1930-2004) was born in the Urals. Graduated from the Sverdlovsk Art College, and in 1956 - the Moscow Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov, received a diploma with honors. On the formation of his as an artist had a great influence on the remarkable Russian artists P.P. Sokolov-Skalya and V.G. Tsyplakov. The name of Gennady Sorogin is widely known not only in Russia but also abroad, by his works exhibited at major exhibitions: all-union, republican, zonal. His work is marked by high professionalism, the constant search for new themes and images, artistic techniques, technology, the creation of works of deep inner content and expressive of the bright artistic form. The artist has always been faithful to the traditions of Russian realistic school. GP Sorogin's paintings are in the State Tretyakov Gallery, in numerous art museums of our country, in India, the United States, as well as in galleries and private collections in Russia and abroad.

A bright page of Gennady Sorogin's work is the Russian landscape. The artist has many works devoted to different parts of Russia, among which a special place belongs to the Ural cycle, dedicated to the artist's small motherland. But above all the artist loved and glorified the land of the Moscow region, admired its beauty, drew emotion and inspiration.
With his fascinating painting Gennady Pavlovich captivated the hearts of his admirers and earned the respect of his colleagues in the painting shop. Gennady Sorogin was a light and gentle man, but that did not prevent him from taking an active part in public life, to protect the unique appearance of our ancient city, to preserve the traditions of the Russian realistic school.Artist was an unusually hardworking man, indifferent to glory.
