Connecting Currents: Contemporary Art

The Houston Museum of Fine Arts is holding an exhibition "Connecting Currents: Contemporary Art".

The exhibition presents contemporary painting, sculpture, craft, photography, installations and design.

The exhibition brings together five thematic subsections. "Border/Mapping" includes works that explore and rationalize the terrain. "Color to Light" showcases works by artists known for their study of color dynamics, exploring "transparency." "Collectivity" highlights the authors' use of different techniques and materials. "Line to Space" demonstrates how artists explore line in many dimensions and mediums, from works on paper to jewelry, three-dimensional designs and furniture. "LOL!" shows art that uses humor as a strategy. Now classic sculptures, photographs and videos by Vic Muniz, Claes Oldenburg, Tony Aursler, Sandy Skoglund and William Wegman, as well as amazing works such as Calavera 4 (Skull 4) by Grupo Mondongoс.
