The State Tretyakov Gallery prepares an exhibition "Russian Art Nouveau. On the way to the synthesis of arts".
The exhibition will feature paintings, drawings and sculpture from the funds of the State Tretyakov gallery, including MA Vrubel, A. Golovin, KF Bogaevsky, II Brodsky, V. Denisov, AI Savinov, etc.
The flowering of Russian Art Nouveau painting is consonant with the Silver Age in literature and is closely linked to the aesthetics of symbolism. In the late XIX - early XX centuries found expression rather controversial tendencies of art: from historical retrospection to the metaphysical landscapes, romanticized portraits and theatrical genre scenes. During this period, the artistic technique of flattening the image comes to the fore.
