Gennady Kungurov's solo exhibition "Black and White
Exhibition April 16 − May 22, 2022
From April 16 to May 22 at the Primorsky State Picture Gallery presents the exhibition of the famous Primorsky artist Gennady Kungurov, Honored Artist of Russia, "Black and White", dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the author. The vernissage will be held on April 15 at 17.00.
Gennady Leonidovich Kungurov graduated from the Graphics Department, specialty "artist of book and polygraphic design" of Moscow Polygraphic Institute. Since 1980 he regularly participates in city, regional, zonal, Russian and international exhibitions. A multi-faceted artist, master of woodcuts, artist of books and print design, a painter, theater artist and an artist-teacher, he is in constant search of new themes and expressive means. Creativity of the author is emotional and open to perception. Gennady Leonidovich has designed about 200 books (children's, artistic, local history, popular science, poetry collections), published 20 colorful photo albums.
The exhibition features more than fifty graphic works from the collection of the Primorsky State Picture Gallery, created from 1990 to 2019. The viewers will be able to get acquainted with the unique ex-libris, illustrations to the poetry collection of A. Egorov's "Wolf's hounds", a series of "Love Japanese lyrics". Over a long period of creativity the artist has developed an individual recognizable artistic handwriting. He is a true virtuoso, a perfect master of etching techniques. His works have a fine understanding of images, the ability to feel the beauty and poetry of simple things, be they human or natural. Kungurov's works are distinguished by their depth and aesthetics, which responds to the audience's love for the noble, spiritual art of etching.
