The Museo Nacional del Prado presents the exhibition
"Francisco Pradilla. The Greatness and Decline of Historical Painting".
Visitors will see a collection of works by Francisco Pradilla from the Museo del Prado. Together with the large-scale painting "Doña Juana la Loca" and its sketchbook, those presented will allow the visitor to take a tour of his career as a painter-historian, the part of his profession that brought him the most fame.
The project, timed to coincide with the centenary of the artist's death, reflects the interest in historical painting and the period that Pradilla was partial to - the late 15th century and early 16th century, presenting two stages of creativity: the initial - dedicated to the success of the painting "Doña Juana la Loca," , and the last, between 1906 and 1910, when the genre would lose its popularity.
