Rodin in the Brooklyn Museum: Body in bronze

Exhibition November 17, 2017 − April 22, 2018
To the centenary of the death of Auguste Rodin in 1917, the Brooklyn Museum presents an exhibition Rodin in the Brooklyn Museum: The Body in Bronze. The exposition includes 58 bronze sculptures of Rodin from the museum's own collection.

François Auguste René Rodin is a famous French sculptor. He greatly influenced the whole image of modern sculpture, set the fashion for beauty, style and allegory. In his work, Auguste Rodin used many innovative techniques, successfully combining them in sculpture. So art historians find in his works the features of impressionism, symbolism, romanticism, realism and other directions.

The exhibition "Rodin in the Brooklyn Museum: The Body in Bronze" places the sculptor's works in their historical context, exploring Rodin's creative heritage, exploring his sculptural practice and the process of bronze casting.

Rodin opened a new era in sculpture, which is perfectly illustrated by the exhibition. Among its exhibits, the viewer will be able to see the works from every stage of his fruitful career, including both small and monumental statues. In addition to the works of Rodin, the exhibition features fragments of ancient sculptures from the museum's collection, similar to those inspired by a talented sculptor.

The exhibition in the Brooklyn Museum is part of the project "Roden 100" - the world series of major exhibitions Auguste Rodin in 2017, dedicated to the centenary of the death of the master.
