Bogdan and Varvara Khanenko National Museum of Western and Eastern Art in Kiev hosts an exhibition
"Soldiers: Invasion.".
The exhibition is dedicated to the work of contemporary Ukrainian artist and sculptor Oleg Kalashnikov, whose works are complemented by texts by Sergei Zhadan and Yevgeni Stasinevich.
The idea for the series was born in the author's childhood memories of the images of nameless, impersonal soldiers who were systematically imposed and heroized by society. The title of the project reflects the multiple meanings of the theme of "invasion" in Kalashnikov's exhibition: the exhibition tells not only about the experience of Russian aggression, but also about the arrival of the Kharkov art wave in Kiev and, finally, the invasion of contemporary conceptual art in a classical museum.
