Karl Bryullov. Portraits from the private collection of St. Petersburg

Exhibition "Karl Bryullov. Portraits from the private collection of St. Petersburg »in the State Tretyakov Gallery for the first time acquaints visitors with eight works by Karl Pavlovich Bryullov, the largest Russian artist of the first half of the XIX century.

These pictures complement the idea of ​​Bryullov's work, and also gives the ordinary viewer a rare opportunity to get acquainted with such important works, previously known only to specialists. Exhibits exhibited in the halls of the Tretyakov Gallery, performed by the artist in different periods of creativity. Only eight portraits, but they demonstrate almost all typological structures of the portrait image: ceremonial and chamber images, group family portrait, equestrian portrait-walk, self-portraits.

The owner of the collection is Andrey Lvovich Katkov, the great-great-grandson of the architect Alexander Bryullov, the elder brother of the painter Karl Bryullov. From his famous relatives, the collector inherited the family relic "Portrait of the Abbot" (late 1830's), the rest of the paintings were searched and bought them already purposefully.

Also within the exhibition for the first time in the Tretyakov Gallery exhibited "Portrait of A.K. Demidova "(1836-1837) K.P. Bryullov from the State Complex "Congress Palace" in Strelna.

Bryullov's hall is next to the exhibition, you can see his other works, which are part of the permanent exhibition of the museum, where they are collected more than fifty.
