Ayvazovsky. In search of the ideal

The exhibition"Aivazovsky. In search of the ideal" in kadriovski art Museum presents 39 works by Russian seascape painter Ivan Aivazovsky. Among them is canvas from the collection of the Art Museum of Estonia "View of mount Vesuvius the day before the eruption", which was not exhibited to the public since 1886. The painting was in poor condition and in need of long-term preservation, which is now completed.

Exhibition of paintings in kadriovski art Museum is the first large-scale exhibition of the artist's works in Estonia.

The core of the retrospective of paintings and drawings by Ivan Aivazovsky from the collection of the State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg. The exhibition allows to trace all periods of the artist's work and see the different types of seascape stormy sea and the calm, flaming sunsets and night landscapes with the famous "moon paths", views of Crimea and Italy, Odessa and Constantinople.

In addition to works from the collections of the State Russian Museum and the Art Museum of Estonia in the halls of the Palace presents works from the collections of the Narva Museum, Tartu art Museum, from private collections and from the Latvian National Museum of art. They include a work donated by the artist to the Riga Museum after the exhibition in Riga in 1886.
