Armenia Art Fair 2018

Exhibition 11 − May 14, 2018
1st annual fair of contemporary Armenian art Armenia Art Fair will be held from 11 to 14 may 2018 in Yerevan.

The exhibition will show works from Armenia, former Soviet Union countries, UK, Lebanon, Syria and Dubai.

The need for the opening event of this scale was dictated by the natural, active creative activity of Armenia and its openness to visitors, and partly due to its global Diaspora. The four-day exhibition at the Yerevan Expo center will be arranged 20 booths on 2 floors, with an area of 4,500 square meters allotted for screenings and lectures. The conduct of Armenian art exhibitions supported non-profit Art Fund "Aragil", promoted by benefactors Mr. and Mrs. Pastikan.

Key aspects
Section “Open Space” will be devoted to the collaboration of artists and curators, independent art initiatives and organizations, which will be shown exclusively works of contemporary art with a focus on video art, performance art, prints and installations.
We will present international and local companies that sell works of art in our section “Gallery and Representation”.
Section “Millennium” will allow visitors to form a personal view of the art Millennium, emerging in Belarus, and selected a group of young Armenian artists, presented by National Academy of fine arts of Armenia. Four Syrian artists, refugees, presented in partnership with ART RESIDENCE ALEY, will bring to the exhibition of contemporary paintings due to a special sponsorship that will cover the costs of their participation.
In the section "Discover" Armenian art exhibition will immerse into the atmosphere of Russian contemporary art, presents the "7th exhibition of contemporary art" (Saint-Petersburg), which is independent of the mobile art troupe.

Programme of evening events
In the roundtable discussion, which will be held in the same format at the Yerevan Expo centre from 17:00 to 19:30 hours on 13 may, will include the theme of "shifting perspectives in art from the local to the global: Creator of the modern" ("Shifting Perspectives on Art from Local to Global: The Contemporary Image Maker"). Dr. Randall Rhodes, rector of the American University of Armenia, will serve as Chairman, and invited curator and writer George Shellhammer – as a participant. Art critic and curator Nazareth Karoyan will also participate in the roundtable as Director of the Institute of contemporary art. Art critic and curator Susanna Gyulamiryan will close the discussion.
Performance
The art collective "Slavs and Tatars" together with Koh Payam Sharifi bring performance to a new level. Artists using an explosive mixture of intellectual and narrow-minded of humor, turn to sculptures, installations, audio and text to deepen and explore the geography, which sees the artists equally in the political aspect. Christian Zender , art performer, soloist and Director will take You on a journey with its unusual and fantastic concerts.
