The State Russian Museum invites to the exhibition of the Soviet and Russian artist "
Alexander Sementsov. Pain syndrome".
At the exhibition visitors can see two series of works by the author - "Blade" and "Apocalypse". They are dedicated to the Abkhaz war and other social, philosophical themes. The exposition consists of 67 paintings, and is a magnificent collection of paintings and graphics.
Alexander Sementsov was born in Kerch in 1941, graduated from the Academy of Arts in Tbilisi, for a long time he lived in Sukhumi, where he combined experimental physics in the laboratory, painting classes and hiking with mountaineering. In the early 90's he moved to Russia.
In 1992, after briefly arriving home from St. Petersburg, Sementsov witnessed an armed conflict between Georgians and Abkhazians. The dramatic experience has completely turned his self-awareness - after that, Sementsov most of all worries about the human aspect of the tragedy: violence, violation of friendly ties, abuse of vows. Real impressions were the basis of generalized, large-scale symbolic images of war and suffering.
