An exhibition opened at the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts «Ilya Repin»from the collection of the State Russian Museum.

Ilya Efimovich Repin - one of the most famous and popular Russian artists of the XIX century. His paintings loved, knew, waited. The artist had an unusually keen sense of life, subtly noticed difficult social problems and deep spiritual demands of society. Repin much contributed to the fact that Russian art took an important place in the pan-European cultural process. His works touched the most significant aspects of Russian realism of the second half of the XIX century.

«As in life» - It was with such words that the press of that time often formulated the key virtue of repin works.

The exhibition at the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts features 32 works by I.Ye. Repin from the collection of the State Russian Museum, as well as 2 works from his own collection. The genre and plot diversity of the exposition is amazing: there are works of the portrait genre, historical, still life, landscape, as well as paintings devoted to religious subjects and preparatory sketches for famous works of the author.
