Russia • artist
Contemporary Russian artist. Lives and works mainly in Russia. Writes his work under the pseudonym Maximillian Honderflenik. Does not advertise his real name. Began as a street artist, in his youth he was fond of graffiti, drawing sketches and cartoons. Influenced by Pablo Picasso, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Jean Dubuffet, Edvard Munch, Vincent van Gogh, Marc Chagall, Wassily Kandinsky and Jean Arp, has begun to try his hand at contemporary art. Not committed to any one style. Basically uses people as the main accent in his paintings, but abstracts these images, distorting them and using somewhere comic style, but not to create a humorous look, but rather the opposite. He is sure that with bright colors he can achieve deep sad images. He doesn't get hung up on form, preferring the content, which allows the viewer to find the emotional subtext in his works. In his works in most cases he uses oil paints and canvases.
