ARKADY ACHITOV*
Born in 1967 in Sverdlovsk. Painter, print designer, Internet content designer and developer. Started his professional career in 1988 as a graphic designer at PA Uralmashzavod. In 1995, he graduated from the Department of History at Ural State University. Was friends with and studied in the same group as the famous Russian cartoonist Maxim Smagin. Ability to draw revealed in early childhood. Already in junior high school has become a frequent participant and winner of the district and city competitions of children's drawing. He took up painting and mastered the skills of working with oil paints during his service in the Soviet Army (Space Object and Aircraft Targeting Center, Vatutinki, Moscow Region). As a photographer and graphic artist of an elite military unit he had at his disposal a well-supplied with material resources art studio. At the end of the 80s he became fascinated by surrealism, which was very fashionable at that time. Collaborated with the picture galleries "A-Salon" and "Artifact". In 1997, seven paintings (canvas, oil) participated in the exhibition in Leipzig (Germany). The artist is engaged in animation, woodcarving, sculpture, graphics, making souvenir samples and baguettes encrusted with rhinestones. In December 2019, participated in the annual city exhibition "ART-Yekaterinburg". The work received positive feedback from the local media. Twice the author and his work were mentioned in the stories of the news program "Nine and a half" (Regional TV). An extensive interview with the artist was published by the channel "Svetoten". At the end of 2021 in preparation for the first personal exhibition the artist began collaboration with Sverdlovsk regional scientific library n.a. M. Gorky. Belinsky. on April 13, 2022, on the Day of Philanthropist and Philanthropist, two works were presented to the library: Fly to the Urals and Mamin-Sibiryak on the Uzlovka River. The first work turned out to be relevant by chance (on April 12, a native of Ekaterinburg, cosmonaut S. Prokopyev received the star of the Hero of Russia). The second work was timed to the 170th anniversary of the writer (the year 2022 was declared the Year of Mamin-Sibiryak in the Sverdlovsk region). Both works became part of the permanent exhibition at the two central entrances of Belinka. The event was covered in the news story of the TV channel "VESTI-Ural", in printed publications of "AiF-Ural" newspaper, the magazine of the Ministry of Culture of the Sverdlovsk region "Culture of the Urals. Personal exhibition "IDOLS. Jovial paintings by Arkady Achitova" was held in the period from November 11, 2022 to February 24, 2023 and was part of two art projects: BIBLIONNALE#NAURALE and "Project-1922", dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the USSR. The best evaluation of the exhibition was given by a paper publication in the newspaper "Rossiyskaya Gazeta - Nedelya". In November 2022, five works by the artist were purchased by collector Evgeny Roizman and in December became part of his exhibition "Chose the road - do not turn around!" at the YELTSIN CENTER. In March 2023 the artist took part in the qualifying competition of the CINARA CENTER within the framework of the forthcoming exhibition "A magician (artist) walked along the city", dedicated to the 300th anniversary of Ekaterinburg. The work "My New Red Dress" was included in the list of forty winners (more than 400 works by 140 artists were claimed to participate in the exhibition).
