According to the artist's memoirs: "I had to work a lot as an artist-stankovist in the technique of oil painting and as an experimenter. When I first began my career at the Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, in the department of restoration of painting, as its founder and head, the Academy was young, the educational process in it was only just beginning to ripen. When I was creating the new department and trying to establish myself in some way, I wrote articles and books on the technology of painting and gave lectures to students from different departments. I spent hours in libraries and archives, pored over experiments in an ordinary workshop. I collected information on painting materials, and at the same time fine-tuned my artistic skills. During this time I gained experience as an artist-practitioner and artist-technologist, specializing in the field of painting materials.
From 1994 to 1999 Yuriy Vitalievich was the coordinator of the painting technology in the art decoration of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow. For his services in the development of architecture and the art of restoration, Yuri V.
