The whole life of Andrei Rublev is several references in the Chronicles, less than a dozen authentically belong to his authorship of the icons and frescoes, and hundreds of versions of art, historical legends and scientific hypotheses of different degree of credibility and argumentation. One could even doubt whether there was Andrei Rublev at all or it is a collective poetic image of the Holy artist, who wrote all the most incomprehensible in the ancient Russian art of the XV century. No matter how hard to get a real person to Andrei Rublev through the canonical biographies of his contemporaries, through the layers of centuries of renovations of its icons through the ashes of burned monasteries and temples, he still was a unique artist for his time and for six centuries afterwards.

Old Russian icon painter does not sign his work, did not seek immortality through fame. Not interested in it and find your own style. The look could only be one as near as possible to the truth.
