Was born in Tomsk. He graduated from the art faculty of the Moscow Institute of fine arts (1932-1939). Studied at V. Favorsky, M. Rodionov and K. Istomin, A. Goncharov. Thesis - an album of lithographs "Motherhood".
To work in the book beginning with 1939. from 1963 began to study engraving. Has designed and illustrated nearly 50 editions of works of Russian, Soviet and foreign writers and poets. Among them Pushkin, Stendhal, Lermontov, Balzac, Mickiewicz, Marshak, Kochanowski, Bitter.
