Biography and information

Born 10 (22) April 1874 in Palekh. Member of the Union of artists of the RSFSR in 1934. Hereditary icon painter. In 1883-1889, he studied in the Studio of N. M.Safonova. Teacher - P. V. Vakurov. Worked in the Studio of Safonov. Painted the walls of churches in Moscow and St. Petersburg, was restored icons. In 1916 he was drafted into the army, but after 5 months got sick and returned to Palekh. Member of artel of ancient painting since August 1926. In 1928-1934 years he taught at the vocational school. Died 16 Feb 1954, buried in Palekh.

A. A. Dydykin has made many original to the interpretation of the forms of miniatures, ornamental design, in the use of painting contrasting colors. Worked on the decoration of the interior (the Palace of pioneers in Leningrad (1936)), worked on the restoration (frescoes of the assumption Cathedral of the Moscow Kremlin (1946), the monastery in Zagorsk), book illustration ("Tales" by A. S. Pushkin (1937)), painting on porcelain. Themes of works: folklore, history, literature, genre scenes and modern. Just wrote over 1,100 miniatures. Participated in exhibitions since 1930.

A. A. Dydykin are stored in museums: gmpi, the state Russian Museum, state Tretyakov gallery, Umgeni, PIM, SHAMS, OC Ivanovskoye, Perm state art gallery, the far Eastern art Museum, the Russian Museum of A. S. Pushkin "Moika 12", CMS, CMI, Kaunas art Museum.
