Biography and information

Painter, Nar. hood. Of the USSR (1957), member.-Q. AH THE USSR (1958). He studied in private schools in Warsaw (1898-1901) and Paris (1905-06). In 1907-34 before. Lithuanian hood. Ob-VA. He taught at the Kaunas hood. school (1926-40), Kaunas Institute of applied and decorative art (1944-51), Vilnius hood. the Institute (1951-53), from 1947 Professor. Landscapes "the Nemunas before navigation" (1917), Twin pines (1930), "forests for the state" (1948), the series of paintings "Here is the Kaunas sea" (1953-65), etc.

Antanas Jono [19(31).10.1876, S. Cariay, now Lazdijai district, Lithuanian SSR - 9.8.1966, Kaunas], people's artist of the USSR (1957), corresponding member AH the USSR (1958). He studied in private schools in Warsaw (1898-1901) and Paris (1905-06). From 1906 he lived in Vilnius, 1919 in Kaunas. In 1907-34 Chairman of the Lithuanian art society. Primarily a landscape painter ("Nemunas before the storm", 1912, "Children of the Nemunas river", 1927, "Two pines", 1930, "Forest state", 1948, all in the Kaunas art Museum. M. K. čiurlionis; the cycle of paintings "Here is the Kaunas sea", 1953-1965). He taught at the Kaunas Art school (1926-40), the Institute of applied and decorative art (1944-51, since 1947 - Professor), Polytechnic Institute (1953-57) and at the Art Institute of the Lithuanian SSR in Vilnius (1951-53).
