People's artist of the RSFSR (1991). Corresponding member of the USSR Academy of arts (1973).
Graduated From Moscow. hood. in-t (1935). The printmaking technique of woodcut portraits of figures of Russian culture ("Yesenin", 1965), vol. Fig. ("Canterbury tales" of Chaucer, 1943; "Romeo and Juliet" by Shakespeare, 1952; Mtsyri Lermontov, 1941-57; "the bronze horseman" by Pushkin, 1974-75), etc.
