Born in the city of Astrakhan.
His art education he received in the Kazan art school and then at the St. Petersburg Academy of fine arts in the landscape workshop of Professor A. A. Kiselev, from which he graduated in 1906. Mstera and the surrounding area of Vyazniki, were favorite places of the artist. Many engaged in teaching, in art-industrial school, K. I. Mazin introduced his disciples to the understanding of the essence of Russian nature, its diversity and color richness. This contributed to the development of future artists keen sense subtle mood and beauty of the landscape. From the school of K. I. Mazin came subsequently, many well-known professional masters of lacquer miniature and landscape painting.
