Painter. Member of the Union of artists of the USSR. Honored artist of the RSFSR.

People's artist of the RSFSR (1978). Graduated From Moscow. hood. Institute (1951), student of Sergei Gerasimov. In 1952-68 traveled to the North of Russia and ancient Russian cities. From 1974 PREV. Board Mosk. organization CX RSFSR. Poetic landscapes, genre scenes from the life of small Russian cities, still life – "Spring" (1957), "Bazaar day" (1958-60), "From work" (1961), "the poplar blossoms" (1963), "Fishermen from Galicia" (1965), "on the seat. Last days of winter" (1965), "Your health, Aleksandr Martynovich!" (1967), "still life with newspaper" (1967), "Sep. Silence" (1972), etc.

People's Artist of the RSFSR, awarded the Silver medal of the USSR Academy of Arts.

In 1951 he graduated from MGHI them. V. I. Surikov in the workshop of Sergei Gerasimov. As a Mature artist I. Popov was formed in journeys to the Northern Russian lands. Then, in the early 60s, formed a creative team of artists, for which the Russian North has become a source of inspiration. Together with Stojarova, Mr. Garinim, J. Semeniuk, E. Zverkova Igor Popov repeatedly went on long trips writing life and the rural way of life of Northern lands. Its first title – Honored artist of the RSFSR (1970) – he received for a series of portraits of "the Fishermen of Galicia".

The works of Igor Popov stored in the State Tretyakov Gallery and State Russian Museum.
