Biography and information

People's artist of Russia. Born in the city of Yekaterinburg. Graduated from the Moscow Higher art-industrial Institute (Stroganov). His teachers were Pavel Kuznetsov and Alexander Kuprin. Reaching artistic maturity, Lev Tokmakov, happy to share their experiences with children, training in the Studio of book illustrations "Bibigon" in the Russian state children's library.

Created dozens of lithographs and numerous drawings in the easel, he often appears in print as a journalist, critic and children's writer. And still the main place in his work is book illustration. Fifty years of Lev Tokmakov draws children's books. Today in publishing "the Kid", "Children's literature", "Young guard", "Rosman", "Astrel", etc. came out more than three hundred books, in which you can see: "Drew Lev Tokmakov". It is "painted", signed by the artist in the books, they are designed, i.e. not to Supplement the text, and participated in the creative process, creating the book along with the author of the text. After twenty years of working in the children's book by Lev Tokmakov decided to start illustrating Russian folk tales. He managed to create is unlike the ordinary life of the fairy world. Interesting his illustrations to well-known fairy tales: "Kolobok", "hen", "the Wolf and the seven little kids", "Sister Alyonushka and brother Ivanushka", "the Fox-sister and gray wolf", etc.
