People's artist of the USSR. Member of the Academy of arts of the USSR. Laureate of USSR State prize, the prize named after Toktogul, and the international prize named George. Nehru.
Born in the family of a military clerk. In 1924-1930 he studied at the Moscow VKhUTEMAS (Higher artistic and technical workshops) by R. Falk. In 1930-1932 he taught at the Institute of proletarian fine arts. Was one of the founders and the Chairman of the Union of Artists of the Kirghiz SSR (1933-1937, 1941-1943). Made creative trips to India (1952, 1957).
All-Union fame artist brought the works about the life and the life of the Kyrgyz people. Painting "the Daughter of Soviet Kyrgyzstan" (1948) was known to every citizen of the Soviet Union, reproduced in textbooks, journals and other publications.
In 1934 in Frunze on the initiative of S. A. Chuikov was opened the first Republic in the picture gallery (now the Kyrgyz Museum of fine arts).
Works are in State Tretyakov Gallery, State Russian Museum, the house-Museum of S. A. Chuikov in Bishkek.

Born 30 Oct 1903 in Pishpek (now Bishkek). He studied at the Tashkent art school (1920-1921). He graduated from Vhuteine VKHUTEMAS (1921-1929), the Studio R. Falk. The founder of the Kyrgyz national school of painting, the Creator of the Union of artists of Kyrgyzstan, the founder of the G. im. After G. Aitiev. Participant of exhibitions since 1927. Member of the Union of artists since 1933.

Creativity and public activity of S. Chuikov has played a crucial role in the formation and development of the Kyrgyz national school of painting, in attitude of artists of Kyrgyzstan in the progressive traditions of Russian and West European realistic art.
The main theme of the artist – life, nature, the people of Kyrgyzstan. They created a significant historical and genre compositions, portraits and landscapes - "the Kyrgyz uprising against the tsarist regime in 1916" (1936), "Hunter with the Golden eagle" (1938), "Portrait of Kalika akyev" (1939), "Toktogul among the people" (1939-1941), "Autumn jailoo" (1945), "the Daughter of Soviet Kirghizia" (1948), "Touch of eternity" (1974).
Works Chuikova 34 are stored in the museums of the USSR, including the Tretyakov gallery, the Russian Museum, the G. im. After G. Aitiev, in the Dresden gallery, the national art galleries in Budapest, Sofia and in private collections.
