Biography and information
Alexander Sergeevich Putov (March 9, 1940, Kamensk - November 18, 2008, Rennes, France) - Soviet and Israeli artist. Painter, graphic artist, sculptor, illustrator. He worked in Paris in the Art Cloche group with Alexei Khvostenko, Valentin Samarin and Vladimir Tolstoy.
Throughout his life, Putov has illustrated poems by more than 15 poets, including Dante Alighieri, Korney Chukovsky, Vadim Delone, and his acquaintances and friends Alexey Khvostenko, Viktor Krivulin, Andrey Lebedev, Henri Volokhonsky, Nastya Khvostova, Rina Levinson, Alexander Altshuler, and French poet Jean-Pierre Rhone.
The most important moments of Putov’s work are illustrations to the poems of Velimir Khlebnikov, Leonid Gubanov and Osip Mandelstam.
