He received his artistic education in St. Petersburg, lived in the village, Sablove Kostroma region is One of outstanding masters of Russian folk art. His paintings on the themes of rural life and folklore associated with Central Chestnyakova for the artistic idea of the crowded and colorful “city welfare”, a kind of “peasant Paradise”. Also wrote stories and poems, publishing them with their own drawings.
