In 1929 he graduated from the VHUTEIN, where he studied with Nicholas of kupreyanov, Pavel Miturich. Together with Mikhail Kupriyanov and Porfiry Krylov, from 1924 worked in the newspaper "Komsomolskaya Pravda", "Literaturnaya Gazeta", "Pravda", magazines "Spotlight," Crocodile", "Onion", "Change", in the years of the great Patriotic War in the "Windows TASS". Worked independently as a painter in the genres of portrait, landscape, still life. The Works Of N. Sokolov are in the collections of the state Tretyakov gallery, state Russian Museum and other Russian and foreign museums and private collections.
