Sculptor-portraitist. He was born in 1859 in Riga, he studied first under Professor of sculpture D. Jensen then attended the school of drawing society for the encouragement of arts in St. Petersburg. and classes of the Imperial Academy of Arts. In 1885 he lives in Paris and head of the art Department at the Museum of GREVENA. The fame he created the busts are portraits of the representatives of literature, science and the arts in Russia - Pushkin (foyer of the Alexandrinsky theatre in St. Petersburg), Fonvizina , Dostoevsky , Goncharov , Saltykov , M. N. Katkov , A. G. Rubinstein (St. Petersburg Conservatory), and others; in France - Flaubert, Renan, Zola, Coppet, Ambroise Thomas, Halevi, and others.

In 1893, played a portrait of the Bogolyubov - bronze bust (in SRM).
