Biography and information

In the 1827-1836 years he studied at the Academy of fine Arts.

Since 1850, the architect of Peterhof.

In the years 1880-1893 Chairman of the St. Petersburg society of architects.

In the years 1848-1859 Benoit led large work in Peterhof (Palace stables, 1848-1854, station railway, 1855-1857, freylinsky house, 1858, the restructuring of the "Large grotto", "the Chess mountain" and "the Golden mount"). They also built the railway station in Peterhof, Red village, at the Trinity-Sergius desert, the Summer theater in Pavlovsk (1875), a number of buildings in St. Petersburg.

1876-1877 years: the fountain in front of the facade of the Admiralty in collaboration with A. R. Elvendom.

1885: wooden greenhouse and housing for the gardener as part of garden landscaping

The chief architect of the Peterhof Palace of the Board (since 1850), senior architect and member of the Board of the 1st district of the Ministry of Railways (c 1851), architect of the Ministry of state properties (from 1852), the chief architect of Imperial theatres (1863-1873). Vowel city Duma of St. Petersburg (1868). In 1872-1897 was in charge of the technical and construction Department of the City Council. Chairman of the St Petersburg society of architects (1880-1893).

Among the buildings: a neogothic Palace stables in Peterhof (1848-1854), the ensemble of buildings after Lisinsky forestry school (1852-1862) with the Church in neo-Byzantine style, the main building is in neo-Baroque style Petrovskaya agricultural Academy in Moscow (1862-1865), the Russian Church in the estate of A. G. Sheremetev High Smolensk province (1867-1871).

From 1857 (or 1858) – Professor of the Imperial Academy of arts.

The Order Of St. Anna 1-th degree, St Stanislaus 2 nd degree, St Vladimir 4-th and 3-th degree.

Had 9 children, including Catherine Nikolaevna Benoit (Lancer), albert Nikolaevich Benois, Alexander Benois, and Leontiy Nikolaevich Benois.
