Konstantinovich Makovsky

One of the founders and editor of the magazine "Apollo" (1909-1917), one of the founders of the "society of protection of monuments of art and antiquities". After 1917 in emigration. Lived in Prague in 1925 in Paris. The author of the books "a Collection of poems" (1905), "Silhouettes of Russian artists" (Prague, 1922), "Recent painting" (Berlin, 1922), "Graphics by M. V. Dobuzhinsky" (Berlin, 1922), "Folk art of the Carpathian Rus '" (Prague, 1925), "Evening" (Paris, 1940) etc. the Chief editor of labour "Russian painting" (vol. 1-4).

Born into a family of artists K. Makovsky, a large part of his life devoted to fine art. He lectured on art history, founded the magazine "Apollo" and the magazine "Old years" (with A. Benoit).

Modeled on the famous Paris Salon of Sergei Konstantinovich was organized by "Salon Makovsky", where he staged art exhibitions. And in 1910 he became the organizer of the exhibition "World of art" in Paris.

After the revolution, Makovsky emigrated. Abroad, he had written books "Silhouettes of Russian artists" (1921), "Portraits of contemporaries" (1955), "On the Parnassus of the Silver age" (1962) and many others.
