Vitaliy
Georgievich Smagin

Russia • 1937−2015

Born in the village of Novobrattsevo, Moscow region. From 1960 to 1965 he studied at the Irkutsk Art College with G.V.Kazakov and M.D. Voronko. From 1966 to 1971, he studied at the Leningrad Higher Art and Industrial College named after V.I. Mukhina at the faculty of decorative and applied and monumental art by G.A.Savinov. Member of the USSR Union of Artists since 1975; Member of the CPSU since 1981; From 1971 to 1976, he taught at the Irkutsk School of Arts. Among his students are A.P. Lodyanov, V.I. Yugatov, V.I. Sokolov. From 1982 to 1986 - Chairman of the Board of the Irkutsk organization of the Union of Artists of the RSFSR. In 1985 he was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR.
