Biography and information

[R. 2(15).1.1908], Soviet sculptor, people's artist of the BSSR (1944), full member AH the USSR (1958). Member of the CPSU since 1943. He studied at the Academy of arts in Leningrad (from 1925) and the Kiev art Institute (1928-29). Created portraits of the heroes of the great Patriotic war (A. I. Rodimtsev, A. I. Molodchego, M. F. Zelnickova — all 1943, the Tretyakov gallery, Moscow, State prize of the USSR, 1946), figures of the revolution (Babeuf, gypsum, 1931-33, has not been preserved; Dzerzhinsky, 1947, Tretyakov gallery, the State prize of the USSR, 1948), figures of the world culture (Lu Xun, 1953, Tretyakov gallery). The author of a number of monuments to V. I. Lenin (Moscow region village of Kashino, 1957, etc.). Awarded the order of Lenin, 3 other orders and medals.

Institute (1926-28), the Kiev State arts Institute (1928-29), at the Tbilisi Academy of arts (1929). In 1929, lives and works in Minsk. Author of portraits of V. I. Lenin (1925, 1959), monuments to V. I. Lenin in Astrakhan (1958), Pushkin, Makhachkala (both 1960), portraits of re-vols. figures of heroes Led. Patriotic war, workers of culture. Participated in the design of the government House in Minsk (1931-33). In 1941-42 collaborated in the newspaper-placate "Time-дав1м fashistskuu, gazso". Created relief "on the Left died fighting for their country" (1954) to the Victory monument, monument to Y. Kolas (1972) in Minsk. USSR state prize in 1946 for portrait of M. Silnitskiy, A. Molodchego, A. Rodimtsev (all 1943) and in 1948 for the portrait of F. E. Dzerzhinsky (1947). At the world exhibition in Brussels (1958) was awarded a silver medal for a portrait of R. Tegorocznego (granite, 1956). Deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the Byelorussian SSR from 1947.
