Portrait of A. E. Botkina. Project "Exhibition of one picture"

Exhibition December 4, 2018 − March 3, 2019
Saratov Art Museum named after A.N. Radishchev presents an exhibition "Portrait of A. E. Botkina". Project "Exhibition of one picture".

Fedor Vladimirovich Botkin (1861-1905) is one of the little-known artists of the Silver Age, although, like his more popular fellow painters, he played a prominent role in shaping a special symbolist attitude based on belief in the creative force of art.

The portrait of A. E. Botkina was donated to the Tretyakov Gallery in 1906 by the artist’s brother. In 1932 the picture was transferred to the Radishchev Museum.
The portrait is a brilliant example of modern, fashionable style of the turn of the XIX-XX centuries. The canvas depicts Anna Efimovna Botkina (nee Guchkov), the artist's mother, who came from a well-known Moscow commercial and industrial family.
