Gospel stories

Exhibition April 11 − June 2, 2019
Tomsk Regional Art Museum presents the exhibition of enamels Zurab Tsereteli "Gospel stories".

Zurab Konstantinovich Tsereteli - Soviet and Russian muralist, sculptor, teacher, professor. Born January 9, 1934 in Tiflis. The exhibition is timed to the 85th anniversary of the great master.

The exposition includes 40 cloisonne enamels and two bronze sculptures - “Nikolai Ugodnik” and “Saint Nino”.

The biblical theme is one of the main themes in the work of the artist. It is embodied in hundreds of works - a cycle of monumental bronze bas-reliefs, works of easel plastics, round sculpture, enamels.
The biblical enamel presented at the exhibition was created in the 1980s – 1990s and illustrates the plots of the New Testament. Their relatively small size sets the chamber format of the exposition somewhat unusual for Zurab Tsereteli’s works and gives the viewer the opportunity to enter into an unhurried and confidential dialogue with the master on eternal themes.
