The main objective of the exhibition "Inspiration. Significant works"explain why some works of art have become more famous than others?

Artists include Marina Abramovich, Jake and Dinos Chapman, Nancy Fouts, Mark Karasik, Sarah Masyuger, Kiki Smith, Jinka Shonibare and Henrik Jonsson. In a dialogue with contemporary works, a selection from the collections of the National Museum is shown.

The 19th century was the great century of museum education in Europe. The history of art was created through collections, museum exhibitions and textbooks on the history of art. The exhibition "Inspiration. Significant works" emphasizes the strong links between the history of art and contemporary art. More than thirty artists from different parts of the world show how they worked with such great masters of Western art as Leonardo, Michelangelo, Rembrandt, Georges de la Tour, Vermeer, Velazquez, Goya and even Roden.
