Biography and information

Member of the Union of artists of the USSR. People's artist of USSR, member of USSR Academy of arts, laureate of the state prize of the USSR, Professor.

Thesis in the CVC - made, name unknown. The training took place at the sculpture faculty. Awarded the title of artist of monumental sculpture. (D. R. on the list of Islands 1908-09-31)

(17(30).11.1908, village Kutuzov, now Zhytomyr oblast, Ukrainian SSR), Soviet sculptor, people's artist of the USSR (1969), full member AH the USSR (1970). Member of the CPSU since 1942. He studied at the Moscow Vhuteine (1928-1930) V. I. Mukhina and at the Academy of arts in Leningrad (1930-32) and A. T. Matveev. He teaches at the Institute of painting, sculpture and architecture. I. E. Repin in Leningrad (1948; Professor since 1962). The work of P. is of a civic nature; his portraits and monuments of the simplicity of the composition and severity clearly modeled forms. Works: "V. I. Lenin in Razliv" (gypsum, 1935, the Central Lenin Museum, Moscow); the group "V. I. Lenin and I. V. Stalin in Gorki" (co-author R. K. Taurit: gypsum, 1949; State prize of the USSR, 1950); the bust of M. I. Kalinin (marble, 1950, Russian Museum, Leningrad); the monument to V. I. Lenin in the Moscow Kremlin (bronze, granite, labradorite, 1967, architect S. B. Speransky;see Fig. Russia (bronze and granite, 1970).
