The unique world of theater: Japan

The All-Russian Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art holds an exhibition“The unique world of theater: Japan”.

The exhibition features engravings, objects of decorative art, antique kimonos and elements of the stage costume of the Kabuki Theater.

The thematic division of the exposition corresponds to the main most popular themes of the classical and most recognizable plays of the Kabuki theater: “The Lion Dance” (mystical stories), “Unhappy creatures demons” (stories about transformations under the influence of feelings), “Life and death in cheerful neighborhoods” (everyday plays describing the events of the Edo era) and “The Great Feats of the Past” (heroic stories describing events before the Sengoku era).
