Learning is light! Book publishing and educational poster from the collection of the Russian Museum

The State Russian Museum in the halls of the Marble Palace is holding an exhibition “Learning is light! Book publishing and educational poster from the collection of the Russian Museum ".

The exhibition presents posters from the collection of the Russian Museum, touching upon the theme of education in Russia in the first third of the 20th century. The exposition includes more than 120 works of propaganda art of the widest thematic range - from narrowly targeted advertising of bookstores, publishing houses, libraries to large-scale promotion of reading, knowledge and education.

A special section of the exhibition will be made up of posters dedicated to the elimination of illiteracy and the universal education program - one of the most ambitious social and educational projects in Russian history. Among the authors of the works presented are both unknown artists and famous masters (I.Ya.Bilibin, B.N. Kustodiev, S.V. Chekhonin, A.A. Deineka, A.F. Pakhomov, D.S. Moor, D.M. Bulanov and others).

The exposition is complemented by works of sculpture, numismatics, folk and decorative-applied arts, which reflect the main theme of the exhibition.
